Playing
How many people can play?
From 4 to 49: 2 to 7 teams with 2 to 7 players each. Team sizes can differ by one player, so odd numbers work too. The Party kit planner suggests a setup for your group.
Do we need a phone each?
No. Dont is played on one phone that you pass around; the app tells you whose turn it is. There's no online play.
Where are the rules?
See How to play. In short: describe the word to your team without saying it or any of its taboo words.
Which languages does Dont speak?
English, Deutsch, Ελληνικά, Español, Français and Português, for both the app and the cards. The cards follow the app language, which you can change in Settings.
Can I turn the sounds off?
Yes, in Settings → Sounds.
Decks, ads and Premium
Is Dont free?
Yes. Dont is free to download and supported by ads. The General deck is always free. Unlock the themed decks for one game by watching an ad, or buy Premium once to remove ads and unlock every deck.
Where do ads appear?
In a banner on the gameplay screen, and in the optional ad you can watch to unlock the themed decks. There are no pop-up ads between turns.
Why are there ads?
Ads keep Dont free to download and play.
If you'd rather not see them, Premium removes them for good.
How do I unlock the themed decks?
Tap a themed deck and choose Watch ad to unlock. After the ad, every themed deck is unlocked for the current game and shows a check mark. A rematch or a new game needs a new unlock.
Premium unlocks them for good.
Do I have to accept personalised ads to unlock a deck?
No. You only need to have answered the ad consent question, either way. If you haven't answered it yet, the themed decks show Needs ad consent to unlock. Tap it to open the consent form, and choose either option. If you decline, Google shows ads that aren't personalised.
How do I get Premium back on a new phone?
Open the Premium sheet (from Settings, the deck picker or the end-of-game screen) and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the Google account you bought it with.
How do I change my ad choices?
In the app, go to Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy. This option appears where Google's consent rules apply, for example in the UK and the EU. You can also reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings: see Your data.
Privacy and data
Where are my players and teams stored?
On your phone. There are no accounts and nothing is synced. Diagnostic logs and error reports can include the names you type: see the privacy policy.
How do I delete my data?
Rename or delete players with the Players button on the team selection screen, and teams with the edit button (the sliders icon) on each team. Legends keep past results and names; to remove everything, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings. Details: Your data.
Problems
A card is wrong or offensive. How do I report it?
Pause the game and tap Report a card. Tell us what's wrong, and please don't include personal information.
I found a bug. What should I send?
Email tardigradeapps@gmail.com with:
- your phone model and Android version;
- the app version (at the bottom of Settings) and the app language;
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened;
- a screenshot or screen recording, if you can.
Which phones does Dont work on?
Dont is for Android phones, from Google Play, and plays in portrait. Google Play shows whether your phone is compatible.
