Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data the Dont app and this website use, why, who else receives it, and what you can do about it. It describes what the current version of the app actually does.

The short version

  • There are no accounts. Your players, teams and Legends stats are stored on your phone.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, you're asked whether ads can be personalised.
  • Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Axiom help us understand how the app is used and fix bugs. They run whatever you choose in the ad consent form.
  • Diagnostic logs and error reports can include the player and team names you type into the app.
  • This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
  • Google Play handles purchases. We never see your payment details.

Who is responsible

Dont and this website are run by Ioannis Koutsogiannakis, a sole trader in the United Kingdom trading as Tardigo ("we", "us"). We decide how and why the personal data described here is used, so we are the "controller" under data protection law.

Questions or requests: tardigradeapps@gmail.com.

Data stored on your phone

The app keeps this on your phone:

  • Players: the names you enter.
  • Teams: team names and who is in each team.
  • Legends: for each player, the number of correct, skipped and wrong cards and of games played; for each team, wins and losses. Legends keep the player and team names, even after you delete a player or team.
  • Settings: game settings, sounds, language, and whether you own Premium.

The app doesn't keep a history of individual games, only these totals. This data isn't uploaded or synced, so we can't see it, with one exception: diagnostic logs and error reports can contain player and team names (see Diagnostic logs).

To delete it, see Your data.

Ads (Google AdMob)

Dont is free and paid for by ads: a banner on the gameplay screen, and an optional rewarded ad you can watch to unlock the themed decks for one game. The ads come from Google AdMob.

To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's ads software on your phone collects information such as your advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. Google is responsible for its own use of this data: see how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Your choice. Where the law requires it (for example in the UK and the EU), the app shows Google's consent form when it starts. If you agree, ads can be personalised. If you don't, you still see ads, but Google shows non-personalised or limited ones.

Change your mind at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy. This option appears where Google's consent rules apply. You can also delete or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings (see Your data).

With Premium, the app doesn't start Google's ads software, so it makes no ad requests and doesn't show the consent form.

Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)

Firebase Analytics, a Google service, shows us how the app is used. The app records these events: language changed, deck picker opened, deck chosen, rewarded unlock requested, rewarded, failed or closed, game started (with the deck), rematch, Premium bought, the studio logo in Settings tapped, and the studio website opened.

Firebase also records some events automatically, such as the first time the app is opened, sessions, screen views, app updates, in-app purchases and ad impressions. They come with a random app-instance ID created by Firebase, the app version, basic device details such as the model and OS version, and an approximate location (country or region) that Google works out from your IP address.

We don't set a user ID or any user properties, and Google Signals is not turned on. Google processes this data for us as our processor.

How this relates to your ad choice. The app uses Google's consent mode. Analytics storage is switched on once the app has started, whatever you answer in the ad consent form. The advertising signals passed to Firebase (ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization) are set to "granted" once the consent form has been answered, whichever answer you gave, or where no form is required. Until then they stay "denied".

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

When the app crashes or hits certain errors, Firebase Crashlytics records what went wrong: a stack trace, the app version, the device model and OS version, and Crashlytics installation IDs. If an error happens while a player or team is being saved, the report can include that name. This runs whatever you choose in the ad consent form. Google processes it for us as our processor.

Diagnostic logs (Axiom)

The app sends its diagnostic log lines to Axiom, a log service, so we can find and fix bugs. Logs are sent in batches and stored in the United States. This runs whatever you choose in the ad consent form.

Each log line includes the app version and build number, the platform, the OS version, the device model and (on Android) the manufacturer. The app doesn't add an account or device ID.

Logs can include the player and team names you type into the app, for example at the start of each turn and when a player or team is added. Use nicknames if you'd rather not send real names.

Report a card (in the pause menu) sends the card word and what you type in the description to Axiom. Please don't put personal information there.

Purchases

Premium is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment, so we never see your card or payment details. The app only learns whether you own Premium and remembers that on your phone. Google's privacy policy applies to your Google account and purchases.

This website

This website has no cookies, analytics, ads or third-party services, and stores nothing in your browser. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply, and keep them only as long as we need to help you.

International transfers

Google, Axiom and Cloudflare may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards they offer, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension where the provider is certified.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and get a copy to take elsewhere. You can withdraw consent at any time; this doesn't affect what happened before.

To use these rights, email tardigradeapps@gmail.com. We reply within one month. Because Dont has no accounts, we can't look your data up by name. To help us find it, tell us what might identify it, such as the player or team names you used or roughly when you reported a card.

Most of your data is on your phone and under your control: see Your data.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live.

US privacy rights

If you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California: personalised ads from Google AdMob may count as "sharing" personal information (your advertising ID, device information and ad interactions) for cross-context behavioural advertising. We don't sell personal information for money.

To opt out, delete or reset your advertising ID or turn off ads personalisation in your phone's settings, or email tardigradeapps@gmail.com. You can also ask to know, delete or correct the personal information we hold. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

Dont isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child under 16 has used the app and data about them reached us, email tardigradeapps@gmail.com and we'll delete what we can find.

Changes to this policy

When the app or our providers change, we'll update this policy and the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used, we'll say so clearly on this page.
